Men’s T20 World Cup 2007: India Won the Inaugural Season

In 2007, the International Cricket Council (ICC) hosted the inaugural Men’s T20 World Cup. It was held in South Africa from 11 to 24 September 2007. The total number of teams that participated in the tournament was another important aspect of the inaugural men’s T20 World Cup.
In the tournament, a total of 12 teams are included: 10 test-playing nations, along with Kenya and Scotland, who qualified for the ICC World Cricket League Division One (and were therefore eligible to play in the inaugural men’s T20 World Cup).
In the first-ever T20 World Cup final in Johannesburg, India emerged victorious after defeating Pakistan by five runs. Through this historic victory, India won its first T20 title and changed the outlook of the future of T20 cricket, motivating millions of prospective young cricketers globally.
